Femme de la Joie Saturday, August 7th, 2010
Jacqueline J. Wilson (Jacqueline J.) will be unveiling her first Art Exhibition at Perspective2 in Old Town Lansing. Her art is a beautifully rich mixture of impressionism, expressionism and American folk art. Wilson discovered her love for painting in 2008 and pulls her inspiration from her joy of dance, femininity and vibrant life. Wilson started as a water colorist in and loved the fluidity and flow of color. Her beginning pieces were designed to captivate viewers and draw them in. In 2009 she began to explore different textures and materials with acrylic paints expanding her work. Wilson has a fun, fresh and colorful approach to her art. Many of Wilsons 25 works will be available for purchase. Ms. Wilson will be joined by multiple artists for the evening including: Childrens book author, Kimberly Broome, showcasing her latest book, I am the only me there is. Beautifully illustrated by Jacqueline J. Guitarist Mance William II; renown for acquired talent beyond his years, draws his acoustic sound from famed Jimi Hendrix and is a rising Michigan star. International poet Future; Future moves and inspires audiences with his unique delivery, prolific writing skills and social consciousness. He has shared the stage with todays music powerhouses: Silk, Case, Jessica Care Moore-Poole, Omar Tyree, and artist-producer Common. |

It's a Breast Thing This wonderfully fun event is designed to help raise community awareness on breast health and support those with breast cancer and recovery. This mix and mingle party will showcase 30 bras transformed into art! The bras and many other great items will be featured in a silent auction during the event. Donations are gladly accepted and all proceeds will benefit the It's a Breast Thing Foundation, which helps cover medical costs for uninsured individuals battling breast cancer in Ingham, Clinton, Shiawassee and Eaton counties. Health care specialists and venders will also be in attendance for an insightful question and answer session and guests can pre-order the new It's a Breast Thing Calendar. Light refreshments will be served and guests can also sign up to be an It's a Breast Thing model or to be a part of the famous bra decorating contest in the future.
