Perspective2 Studio Photo Contest! Enter, Shoot at P2, Create, Inspire and Win...
Perspective2 invites you to take part in our first Studio Photo Contest. What better way take advantage of Mid-Michigan's only community-based photographic studio, be inspired with photography and have an opportunity to win more than $1250 in total prizes.
Register now and have the entire month of February to use up to 4 hours of free studio time, finish and submit your final entry to win. All prizes will be awarded on March 7th at P2’s First Sunday Gallery Walk open house where all the contest entries will be on display and winners announced.
Who is eligible to enter?
Professionals (20% or more of your yearly income is from photography and you have a website or blog for the promotion of your photography)
Amateurs and Students
First Place Winner-Pro $500*
First Place Winner-Amateur/Student $250*
Second Place Winner-Pro $250*
Second Place Winner-Amateurs/Student $100*
(or a 3-month Pro-Membership--a $360 value)
Third Place Winner-Pro $125*
Third Place Winner-Amateurs/Student $75*
(or a 3-month Studio-Membership--a $240 value)
The peoples’ choice awards will be voted on by the public, at P2, March 7th
during the first Sunday gallery walk where all entries will be on display.
How Does the Studio Contest Work?
Photographers may work independently or in teams of two.
Our staff will gladly assist you your first studio set-up if you need it.
Register on-line in the professional or amateur/student category before February 10th.
Consider what your inspiration will be and you will use one of our 3 available studios, equipment and props (you are welcome to bring props of your own).
Reserve your free studio time on-line in either: one, 4-hour block or two, 2-hour blocks any time during the month of February.
Shoot your inspiration images at the studio with Perspective2’s studio lighting gear and/or props.
While in studio, shoot 3-6 images of your studio set-up, studio use and/or sets.
Digitally finish your entry images.
Write a 200-400 word description on your entry inspiration, how it was shot, what work was done in post-production, and about your P2 studio experience.
Submit by 6pm, Tuesday, March 2nd 2010:
Submit on a clearly labeled CD or DVD, copies of your original unedited RAW image(s), Photoshop layered working files and the final finished JPG file(s) (4 MB or larger) and your written discription of inspiration (word document please).
Submit your final printed image (up to 2 final images per entrant) printed 8x10 or larger, and matted in a 16x20, 20x20 or a 20x30 window matt with your name and contact information on the back of the matt. No names or identification should be on the front of the matted entry. Absolute Gallery will be offering special matting prices for our contest.
Come to P2’s first Sunday Gallery Walk Open House, March 7th, Noon-4pm where all the submissions will be on display and winners will be announced! Winners will be announced at 2pm. Please bring family and friends. They can vote for people's choice awards!
Possible Topics (but not limited to): photo illustration, fashion, portrait, product, still life, make believe, illusion (how did they do that)... Think creatively!
You provide the inspiration... we provide the studio space, lighting gear and prizes! Enter early, and start reserving your February studio-time!

How The Contest Will Be Scored:
Creative and technical use of lighting - 10 pts (must show images of lighting set-up)
Set Design -10 pts (must show visually how your set was built and used in studio)
Documentation of P2 studio use and set-up minimum of 3 images, maximum of 6 images showing your creativity of use of the studio - 10 pts
Technical expertise of RAW image - 10 pts
Technical expertise post-production - 10 pts
Image Printing and Matting - 10 pts
Overall Creativity - 40 pts
Total possible points - 100

*Please note there must be 20 registered entrants in each categories for the listed prize payouts. If fewer than 20 entrants are in each category the prize money will be 50% of the total entry fees for that category.
