Kids 3-day Photo Camp at Perspective2

For kids ages 9-13 years
August 9- 11th, M-W 9am-3pm (drop-off available at 8:30 am)

Kids see the world differently with fresh enthusiasm and unrestricted vision. They like capturing those images on cell phones and cameras. This course taps into that natural enthusiasm and refines their ability to capture the world as they see it! Fun games and activities will teach them to see what makes an outstanding photo. We will explore colors, textures, shape, light and composition. Students will learn to express themselves and tell a story with their images. Capturing friends, family, pets, scenery and life from their perspective is emphasized! There will also be some technical training so they understand the technoart aspects of digital camera operations, focus, exposure and other fundamental concepts.

What will students/attendees learn? The ability to capture their world, express their thoughts and maximize the joy of capturing and sharing an outstanding photo.

Students are to bring: a digital camera with a blank memory card and a charged battery, brown bag lunch, note book, comfortable clothing and good walking shoes. Students will be walking around Old Town and local parks in small groups for some of the time. Parents need to sign a release prior to students participating.

Price: Early Registration $85 (before Saturday July 24th)

August 16- 18th, M-W 9am-3pm (drop-off available at 8:30 am)

This is the digital age and this is the intensely visual generation! Teens love to grab photos of their world, their friends, their visions and their passions. This course is designed to take that raw enthusiasm and learn more about being truly creative and expressive with the technoart of digital photography. We will have lots of hands on experiments with color, texture, light and shape and how they impact an image's message.

One day will be spent exploring the rich visual environment of Old Town and surrounding parks. Another day will be spent with people. They will learn fundamentals of portraiture, group photos, using light and an introduction to a photo studio environment. We will also spend a day looking at the practical aspects of camera operations, focus and exposure and the craft of capturing the image you want to see.

What will students/attendees learn? Enhanced ability to recognize good photo opportunities and refine their understanding of the technology.
